Forest Hike: Summit County – Thursday, July 2, 2026 (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) In this class, we’ll hike a trail out of Frisco, Colorado, learning edible native plants and mushrooms common to high country aspen/conifer forests and sagebrush meadows, as well as some non-natives. We’ll taste along the way, and if wild food is abundant, we’ll forage and prepare something to sample. We also may do a hands-on activity from my backpack. No matter what, it will be a full, fun day! South Park Archaeology Day – Saturday, July 11, 2026 (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM) Join us in Fairplay for Archaeology Day, featuring flintknapping, atlatl throwing, yucca brush painting, and more! Come by my tent to hang out and talk plants. I’ll have a selection of edible plants native to Colorado and host informal chats about identification, harvest, and use. Located on the courthouse lawn at 418 Main Street, Fairplay. Please leave pets at home. (FREE)

Forest Hike: Bailey area – Wednesday, July 22, 2026 (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) – In this class, we’ll hike a shady drainage in Colorado’s Front Range Mountains near Bailey, CO learning edible native plants (and hopefully mushrooms) common to mixed-conifer forests, as well as some non-natives. We’ll taste along the way, forage, and prepare something to sample. We also may do a hands-on activity from my backpack. No matter what, it will be a full, fun day! Offered under a UFSF permit. Edible Plants Native to Colorado – Tuesday, July 28, 2026 (4:00-5:00 PM) – In this hour-long PowerPoint presentation we will learn a selection of edible plants native to Colorado, including how to identify, harvest, process, and use them sustainably. We’ll look at how these plants have been used by Native peoples, while recognizing that Indigenous knowledge is diverse, living, and specific to individual communities. Hosted by Summit County Library’s South Branch in Breckenridge (FREE).

Edible Foraging + Cooking – Sunday, August 16, 2026 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM) – What edible plants grow in Breckenridge? Join WFG for a walk and talk on wild plants in the area—including plant identification, sustainability information, harvesting practice, and uses—followed by hands-on food preparation and a tasting back at the Arts District. Hosted by Breckenridge Creative Arts. ($68-98)

Forest Hike: Boreas Pass – Wednesday, Aug 19 (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) – In this all-day class, we’ll hike from the top of Boreas Pass (between Breckenridge and Como), learning edible native plants (and hopefully mushrooms!) in a subalpine setting. We’ll taste along the way, and forage and prepare something if food is abundant. Other activities may include: plant ID by group, how to use a flora, and/or something hands-on from my backpack. No matter what, it will be a full, fun day! Offered under a UFSF permit. Hosted by WFG. ($130)
