Description
What wild foods grow in a high alpine setting in summer? In this class, we’ll hike Black Powder Pass Trail from the top of Boreas Pass (between Breckenridge and Como) learning edible native plants and mushrooms common to tree-line and above tree-line forests. We’ll taste along the trail, and if plants, mushrooms, or berries are flourishing, we’ll forage and prepare something to sample. Other activities may include: plant ID by group, how to use a flora, and/or something hands-on from my backpack. No matter what, it will be a full, fun day! USFS permit pending. Offered with permission from the U.S. Forest Service. ($130)
